So last year I decided to do a little advertising for my artwork. This year I’m doing it again. I will be advertising in the Loveland ARTSource; this a guide for the visual and performing arts in Loveland. I’ll be listed under “Mary Zimmerman of Loveland.” These magazines are distributed throughout all ten Colorado Welcome Centers, as well as Loveland hotels, art organizations, galleries, Loveland sculpture shows and other events. It’s also going to be displayed as a flip-page book on their new web site, ArtsourceColorado.com. Can you say, “SWEET“! So if you’re traveling to Colorado, passing through, staying in Loveland or whatever, keep your eyes peeled for this magazine; Loveland ARTSource.

On the music scene, I have a few advanced vocal students leaving at the end of the school year, taking a break and getting ready for college. Some of their college music departments have been in touch with me; discussing their incredible vocal strengths and abilities they bring with them. It’s nice to be acknowledged for their accomplishments and my hard work giving credit to the Man upstairs also. Though with that being said, I do have some voice openings age 7 and up, beginners and up, all styles.

Oh yes, had two of my students try out for two different television voice shows this year. Woot! Woot! They did an excellent job and gained more experience. I’m proud of them.
So that’s just a little of what’s happening in the world of Me with way more to come!

Hey everyone! Just a quick update…

The Aims Holiday Arts and Craft Show was fun. We made money for some of the artists who had been affected by the flood and all in all a good time was had by all. I put on an impromptu music show, enjoyed my daughter’s help and company plus the other artists. Lastly I wanted to say to the people who made the show possible; you did a fabulous job. Happy Winter Holidays everyone!!

The L.A.S.T. 2013 was a blast in regards to meeting new people and seeing old friends. However making it rich, not so much. :)

I had fun though, made way more than a nickel and I did sell some. I’m building a solid fan base bit by bit and the majority of people seemed quite happy when they left. It’s all good!

But all is not over yet…I had one day off and then I’m off for a photo shoot for a print job. I’m so very thankful to be blessed with so much to do. Just got to keep it all together! Stay tuned.

The Art in the Park festivities went a little better for me, meaning at least I made it. Sold some pieces, talked to tons of people and even had a little fun. Saw some friends there also. The weather cooperated for the most part, after all it is Colorado. The sculptor show had tons of people there also. These events get more popular every year. Hope you can come to my gallery at my home for the "5th Loveland Art Studio Tour 2013" in October. Will let you know more details later.

So, I know I didn't tell all of you, but I had a gig back on August 3 at a restaurant called, Mo Betta Gumbo. Well that torrential downpour we had Saturday night looked like it might spoil things, but by 6 p.m. it had stopped and folks came in ready, willing and able to have fun and eat. And that they did. From it’s tasty, Cajun offerings to the varied musical flavorings of yours truly, a cool, hot, savory, sweet time was had by all.

Mo Betta was indeed Mo Betta Saturday night! Great time!

The opening of the new Community Creative Center went well. I am showcasing two pieces there thru Aug. 24th. The gallery is a great place to hang art and to enjoy other artistic performances. Hope to get my music in there sometime as well. It’s located at 200 Mathews St. Ft. Collins CO Hours: Wednesdays – Saturdays noon-6.pm. and managed by the Lincoln Center.

The 49th Annual Art in the Park is coming up fast. August 10, 2013 10-p.m. and August 11, 2013 10-p.m.
It is FREE. Location: North Lake Park 2800 N. Taft Ave. & 29th. St. Loveland CO
Over 200 Fine Art and Craft Booths (live music, fine food and drinks, plus children’s activities)
I’ll be at the Thompson Valley Art League Booth right next to the Loveland Art Studio Tour booth. Mark it on your calendar. Fun for all. That’s all for now.

Hi All,
I can hardly believe it. Wow what a night. Thank you all for your support and of course the Man upstairs.

Now: The Annual Regional Fine Arts Show (June 3-28, 2013) sponsored by the Lincoln Gallery and Thompson Valley Art League was great. I won 1st. place for “Abstract 1″ in the Mixed Media category and I won the People’s Choice Award for “Abstract 1 “ also. Ribbons and checks were issued for both. I melted as I was deeply touched, and dedicated this win to my sister Pat, who always had my back.

The juror who judged the show was Diane Edwards a Master Pastelist with the Colorado Pastel Society . She’s got a BS and MA in Art and Education and of course has her own fantastic career.
Wanted to share a couple of comments she had about “Abstract 1″.
” The painter has brought the shapes off the edges in a very interesting way. The
colors are very well placed.. It is an exciting use of color. It could be hung in a
totally different direction as well. It is a really nice piece and has great contrast.”

Well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Hope all is well with every one!!!

My husband and I were at this restaurant, Mo’ Betta GUMBO a while ago and there was gentlemen there playing his banjo of some Cajun music. Really nice and entertaining; and then he came and asked me to sing with him. I didn’t know how he knew who I was but figured the owner, Clay, must have told him I would be there. So, as it happened I did some harmony with him he did his thing and before we knew it everyone was asking us to do more. He asked if I would join him again and it went very well. Everyone loved it! They all asked us how long we had been together. Then Clay asked if I wouldn’t mind to sing even more. I told him I didn’t know how to sing Cajun music which he responded “you just did”. It also happened there was a young man who was celebrating his birthday. He said, “I don’t want anyone else to sing happy birthday to me except Mary”. Clay asked, “Mary do you mind?” Of course I didn’t mind. I asked him how old he was which he responded 30; I told him he didn’t look a day over 21. I even involved everyone at the restaurant. It was fabulous! Got everyone to give me a little beat, and then we started. A five-minute birthday song! It was fun!

At that point Clay said to me, “hurry up and email me I’m ready to book you.”

Nice!!! All in a days work! Except the Gumbo was just a little spicy!

I will be shooting a trailer for a film called “That Still Small Voice,” May 11th. The film is about a young girl who has a wretched home life and a lot of bad things happen to her. I play the part of her elder who encourages her to turn to the bible instead of the negative things in life. The trailer is supposed to generate interest and hopefully more funds so the film can be made.

Also I’m auditioning for a new Canjun restaurant soon; this weekend if all goes well. They say they want my style of music. NICE!!!

The Loveland Art Studio Tour 2013 LAST audition deadline is coming up fast. I will be entering some pieces again. Hope I get in.

Oh, had a great opportunity to participate in a play recently. The part they wanted me for was PERFECT!!! Can you say...."mouthy"? Yup, would have been perfect for me but couldn't get the schedules to work out. Between me performing, teaching voice and creating new art work, I wouldn't have been able to make the rehearsals. I mean, golly moses! they would have started in just a few weeks! Not enough time to get things rescheduled. But so very thankful and fortunate for the chance! Looking forward to the next one!

Yes, I know it's been WAY TOO LONG! Let's just chalk it up to "life gets in the way". So, things are still going great! I really wanted to let you all know I now have my own studio!!! Yup! Send me an email for private showings!!!

This past Sunday I decided to attend the Loveland Metaphysical Fair with my daughter and in honor of my sister that passed away a few years ago. We're walking around and came to a medium and I decided to have a seat, since it's been awhile since I had been read. This medium basically worked with tarot cards; or should I say, DIDN'T work with tarot cards. She asked me to choose 10, which I did and then all she did is plop them on the table and never looked at them at all. She then asked me to tell her MY life story. SERIOUSLY?? Please!!! I may not be an expert at this but I know they should be the ones to give me SOMETHING! She charged $1/minute and gives 20 minutes and she gave me NOTHING! She sat there staring at me waiting for me to tell her everything about me. I told her I wasn't giving her my life story and that she should be giving me something based on, if not the cards, just reading my body language, posture, look on my face, anything physical; there are some tricks of the trade that gets them going! And that's when the first CUSS word came out from her. "v....." which is french for F***you. OH NO SHE DIDN"T!!!! As if I didn't know what that meant. Dang, she wasn't even french; that accent was fake and I can do better! I told her I knew what it meant. Then I decided fine. I said "tell me something about my businesses." She says, "Oh, businesses are bad these days." Again, SERIOUSLY!??!!! As if I didn't already know. She goes on to say "you know the economy is bad for everybody!" Yeah, RIGHT! Then she asks me what businesses I have and I mention that I have an art show coming up. She immediately says, "Don't tell anybody. She says, "prove it in your work. Let your work speak for itself." I said, "WHAT??? Then how is anyone ever going to come if I don't tell them!??!!!" She said, "Merde!" I couldn't believe it. This lady was BAD!!! I was about to get ugly and figured I'd better leave. So I paid her measly $20 and told her she should go get some food because obviously her blood sugar was low or she was PMSing!!!!!! My better guess is the PMSing!!!!

Well, friends I hate to tell you but I will not be able to attend this event this month afterall. Some other business has come up that I must attend to. But don't despair you'll still have an opportunity to see and purchase my work at the Loveland Art Studio Tour 2011. I'll be showcasing my work at the Mandolin Cafe, located at 210 East 4th Street. I'll be there October 15-16 from 10am to 5pm both days. You're sure to find that piece you've always been looking for.

The second Friday in September, Sept. 9, I'll be showcasing my art at the Pop Up Gallery at 213a E. 4th St. in Loveland, CO. Come out between 6-9 pm for a great evening of fabulous art, sparkling conversation, live music, food and an all around wonderful time! Looking forward to seeing you then!

Well, since we last chatted I have been pretty busy. I got that part in the sci-fi movie and we shot the trailer for it this week....in blistering hot weather...and on the side of a mountain no less...The main director wasn't able to make it in from England so we had a last minute stand in director. He turned out to be pretty good! Overall, after issues with tents, the heat and other things..I made it through two days of shooting and it ended up good. Look for the trailer to pop up in about a month or so.. The film is called "Beyond, a sci-fi movie with a bit of a twist. I play Olga...at least that's the character's name for now. A seriously bad momma! It should be lots of fun!

YUP! I got the part in the science fiction movie! I just got the call today and I will be playing the role of "Olga", who is a creepy.weird occult type person! It's like a Diana Ross on crack type character. Like a voo-doo momma in the second PIrate's of the Carribbean! Should be lots of fun and very challenging! First rehearsal is Wednesday!

Hey everyone. I'm heading into Denver to audition for a part in an upcoming sci-fi movie! Really hoping I get this one.Then I'll be back in Loveland to teach both voice and guitar today. Never a dull moment!

Yup! Sold another piece at tonight's event! Of all the artists, only two of us sold. Snowy Night found a home! I'm so happy these individuals finally bought it after 4 months of visits over the past few events. Fabulous!

Just found out that I'm DEFINITELY going to be showing at the October Loveland Arts Studio Tour at the Mandalin Cafe. Woo hoo!!!!! This is the BIGGEST EVENT for art studios in Loveland over the ENTIRE year. Keep an eye out on my events tab for the details.

Yup! Another Night on the Town! I'll be displaying my artwork at 213a E. 4th St. in Loveland, CO. Please come out and introduce yourself to me. I'd love to see you! From 6-9 pm. I'll be right across the street from Loveland Music store and the Rialto Theater.

I also have another audition for a part in a sci fi picture, "Keep it Moving Productions" on July 20. The character, Olga, is creepy and weird; sounds about right for me. Also for any of you keeping track, I didn't get that part from last week for actors to play real people; I guess I was a little too real for them. No worries; I'll just have to watch the caffeine before auditions! LOL!

The job went great July 2nd. Got some people that came out from the newspaper article plus some regular customers. It sounded great. Gave out a lot of cards business cards for my art website. Hopefully I'll see some online sales soon. Everyone really enjoyed my music and wanted to know when I would be there again. The age range that came out to see me was all over the map. As it got later, it was like 16 and up. Baby boomer music is still alive and well, or should I say classic top 40.

Looking forward to my next gig! I'll keep everyone posted when that will be. Also I should have a couple new art pieces uploaded soon. Keep your eyes open for those!

Hey everyone. I have an audition in Denver today. I should be exactly what they are looking for. And of course the money will come in handy. The shoot will be July 12 and 13. I'll let you know if I get it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Also there's been a lot of interest and activity around Saturday's show at Applebee's. Lots of people planning on being there. Hope to meet some of my fellow FAA members from the area too!

Well, gotta run, gotta keep on schedule.

My second private showing went great! Sold two pieces, one of which is Cattywampus the other I haven't posted here yet. Look for some new pieces to come in the next few weeks. In the meantime, come out to Applebees at 4306 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins to experience my music and my art! Yes, dinner and a show! You can't beat it!

Hey everyone! Just a quick note to let you all know what I've been up to. Had an acting gig down in Denver last week. Went extremely well! Played a woman on disability who lost her disability insurance. Did mostly facial expressions, while a voice over person told the incident. It will be on the Internet soon. The company is Network Affiliates, with distribution across the U.S. Lots of fun doing that one!

And I have another private showing tonight! Can't wait!!!!!

Just had a great show last night and a great turn out! A lot of people came out for A Night on the Town and enjoyed an evening of great music, food and drink! And yes, a discerning and very excited patron purchased Pink Mist! So very happy for her! She definitely has great taste! Lots of patrons raved about my newest pieces, Cattywampus and Abstract 1!

Last week I blogged about heading out the door for a show I was doing. It was at Water Valley, northern Colorado's premier resort lifestyle community. It went FANTASTIC! I've performed there before and I love it. Nothing like performing some of the great ballads and jazz pieces from the 30's and 40's! I also got to showcase some of my artwork as well. Everyone really enjoyed getting a "two for one" evening! Thanks to everyone for a wonderful evening and allowing me to perform for you. I can't wait until the next time!
